Birth : Mullah Abdul Hakim Sialkoti was born in Sialkot Punjab in 968 AH / 1560 in the reign of Emperor Akber. His father was Sheikh Shamsuddin. Education : Mullah had his education from a very renowned relegious scholar of his time Molana Kamaluddin Kashmiri (d.1017 AH/ 1608) ; Molana Kamaluddin was the brother of another renowned scholar of his time Molana Jamlauddin , and he was the disciple of Baba Fatah Allah Haqani, also was very close to Khawajah Abdushaheed Naqshbandi, he belonged from Kashmir and later moved to Sialkot, he was a grear scholar remembered in history as Allama Mashriqayn ( Scholar of East) and Moallem e saqalain ( master of universe ). He had two universities one in Lahore and one in Sialkot and people from far away came to learn under his brilliance. Classmates: Mullah Abdul Hakim had two very famous class fellows , one was Mujaddid Alif Sani ( 971 AH / 1563-1034 AH/ 1624); who is one of the most prestigious spiritual personality from Subcontinent and the other was Nawab Saadullah Khan; who was the president of the court of Emperor Shah Jahan. Mujaddid Alif Sani and Mullah Abdul Hakim: Mujaddid Alif Sani and Mullah were both classmates but after the completion of their studies they remained separated even till 1022 AH/ 1613 but in that year it happened that one of Mullah's sharp student remained absent for few days from classes and Mullah got concerned therefore he sent word for him after that the student came to him with few pages in his hands on Mullah's curiosity he told his teacher that he red these pages that seemed to him so interesting that he got distracted from his classes when Mullah red them he got astonished too and after some search it came to him that these pages were written by Mujaddid Alif Sani, he was very impressed and then one night in Mullah's dream he saw Mujaddid who was reciting some verse and interpreting the meanings of that verse to Mullah, when Mullah woke up he wrots a letter to Mujaddid and also mentioned the dream about him too, it is written in books that Mullah in 1023 AH/ 1614 or 1024 AH/ 1615 went to Sirhand to meet Mujaddid and both met very warmly, and Mullah accepted the discipleship of Mujaddid and became a disciple of Mujaddid Alif Sani, Mujaddid too respected him a lot and even the title Mujaddid Alif Sani was given by Mullah Abdul Hakim himself while his true name is Sheikh Ahmed Sirhandi and also the Mujaddid gave Mullah a title of Aftab e Punjab ( A sun in the scholars of Punjab). Carrier And Achivements: Mullah in the reign of Emperor Akber was an officialy appointed professor at the University in Lahore that was constructed by Akber himself and he was so brilliant in that time that he was famous with the title of Fazil Lahori , in the reign of emperor Jahangir he was greatly honoured by emperor and emperor had given him a huge land in acknowledging his services and in the early days of Emperor Shah Jahan he was the principal of Agra University and later came to Lahore, the emperor weighed him twice and gave him 6 thousand coins each time which was equal to his weight. Students : A part of hundreds or thousands of his students two famous students in history are more notable; Mullah Abdur raheem who was the justice of Murad Abad and Mir Syed Ismail Balgrami. Meeting with the famous Sufi Poet Saint Shah Hussain: It is written by Prince Dara Shikoh in his book Hasanat ul Arifin ( dated. 1064 AH/ 1653) that Mullah Abdul Hakim Sialkoti visited to the most famous sufi master of his time Shah Hussain ( 945 AH/ 1538-1008 AH/ 1599; who is one of the most celebrated sufi poet of Punjabi language and is the father of the famous gener of punjabi poetry named as Kafi) and asked him to make him as one of his disciple but Shah Hussain refused to say that you are a Mullah( religious man) and is not fit for my discipleship; ملا عبدالحکیم گفت: پیش وی رفتم و گفتم مرا مرید کن گفت می خواہی کہ مرا در تمام شہر رسوا کنی؟تو ملائی و مرد این کار نہ ای۔ Mullah also said that he had witnessed two spiritual miracles of the saint 1. * A man came to him and said that he is in love with a woman but she does not bother at all , Saint Hussain asked him to find a place of seclusion and recall her name for few days after which he came and said that the woman herself came to me and answered to my love calls. 2. * A man came to the saint and told him that he has a dream but it does not by any mean comes true , saint Hussain handed over him a cow and asked him to urine over it as he did so the dream came true. Titles: Mullah Abdul Hakim Sialkoti is remembered with various titles in history that were given to him in his life time as: Aftab e Punjab ( The shining Sun among the scholars of Punjab) , Fazil Lahori ( The scholar of Lahore) , Fazil Sialkoti ( The scholar of Sialkot) , Malik ul Ulama ( Head of scholars ), Allama e Zaman ( scholar of the era). Death: Mullah Abdul Hakim Sialkoti died in 1068 AH/ 1657 and his shrine is located in Sialkot Punjab.
