Michael John Buckley (1931–2019) was an American Jesuit priest and philosophical theologian. He was the retired Bea Professor of Theology at Santa Clara University. Born October 12, 1931, in San Francisco, California, Buckley received his BA and MA in philosophy from Gonzaga University, his STM from Santa Clara University, and his PhD from the University of Chicago (analysis of ideas) under Richard McKeon. He has received two honorary doctorates. He died on July 25, 2019, in Los Gatos, California.
