Ellery Cuthwyn Hanley MBE (born 27 March 1961), also known by the nicknames of "Mr. Magic", and "The Black Pearl", is an English former professional rugby league footballer who played as a professional from 1978 to 1997. In 2007, he was voted the greatest British rugby league footballer of all time. He is also the former head coach of Great Britain, St Helens and Doncaster. He won the Man of Steel a record three times, the Lance Todd Trophy once, and the Golden Boot in 1988. He was awarded the MBE in January 1990 for services to the game.
