Dr. Gavin Mitchell (born 16 December 1964) is a Scottish actor and comedian. He is best known as Robert "Boaby The Barman" Taylor in Scottish sitcom Still Game and as Humphrey Bogart's character Rick in the Gin Joint Cut version of Casablanca. The final series of still game aired in 2019 with no further episodes being made. Mitchell was awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters from Glasgow Caledonian University on the 4th of July 2019 receiving it at a ceremony held in Glasgow Royal concert hall

He made appearances in the BBC Scotland Series Empty and In 2009, Mitchell starred in the comedy Happy Hollidays. In 2011, he played a major part in the festival set You Instead and The Field of Blood. Also he appeared as Edward Lamsbottom a GDHQ worker in the MI High Series 7 two part finale We Need To Talk About Kortex and 'The Last Stand'. He also voiced the KORPS leader, the Mastermind in Series 7 taking over from veteran actor Brian Cox. Mitchell is a fan of David Bowie and associate of the band Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5. At a concert at Glasgow Barrowlands on Saturday 5 March 2016 he accepted Bowie's posthumous induction into the Barrowland Hall of Fame. The award would then be passed to Bowie's management.
